About Us Helbraun Levey is the premier law firm in New York City for bars, restaurants, hotels, chefs, developers and all food and beverage outlets. We represent first time entrepreneurs, multi-unit operators, hotel F&B management groups, general managers, chefs, developers and all other industry folks. There are many law firms that dabble in the hospitality industry, but none of them have our experience or our commitment to New York City’s hospitality professionals.
The firm is seeking a qualified attorney to join our NY licensing team. The ideal candidate is well-organized, responsible and is an effective communicator. This individual will manage their own caseload and should have professional office experience. Experience with NY ABCL is a plus. Experience/knowledge of the NY hospitality, food, and beverage industry is a plus.
Primary Responsibilities
Assembling and filing various city and state regulatory applications on behalf of New York bars, restaurants and hotels.
Attending State Agency Hearings, Public Hearings, Community Board and certain other city or quasi-city agency meetings (city council meetings, meetings with various neighborhood organizations).
Advising clients on various matters related to NY ABCL.
Producing research-based briefs and occasional legal memoranda.
Project management and responsibility for a heavy caseload, personally.
Interacting with clients, via email and phone, while providing excellent customer service and a high level of professionalism.
Providing general administrative support to the department as needed.
Barred in NY (NJ and/or FL is a plus).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Effective public speaking skills.
Outstanding organizational, supervisory and leadership skills.
Efficient ability to prioritize workload and multi-task.
A strong ability to give and receive feedback.
Detail-oriented and able to function well independently, and as part of a team.
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of staff in a team-centric environment.
Critical thinking with the ability to adapt and learn new processes quickly.
Ability to consistently demonstrate professionalism and good judgment.
Excellent writing/drafting ability.
Computer literacy, including but not limited to, typing skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and Adobe; Familiarity with basic office software, such as, computers, printers, phones. Experience with government agency platforms/portals a plus.
The candidate we are seeking is a pro-active, energetic, and hardworking team player-ideally with an understanding of or experience in the hospitality industry. The candidate must have the ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment and possess great analytical and communication skills.
Candidates must live within commuting distance of downtown NYC.
Total Compensation and Benefits
$100,000-130,000/year
