This position is the IT Systems Administrator for the Navy's Maintenance University (MU) Program. The Maintenance University is intended as an educational and training service that provides focused and current real-time maintenance training to various levels of the Navy's personnel to raise their knowledge level concerning maintenance management execution. Responsibilities
Works closely with the Maintenance University Program Manager and the TMMG Information Technology (IT) Director/staff to provide efficient IT support for the Maintenance University (Primary) and other TMMG staff as required. Responsible for proper operations and workstation performance of all computers used to support Maintenance University (MU). Technical working knowledge of OMMS‑NG and/or AWN is preferred. Managing and maintaining virtual machines. Utilizing Linux command line tools and environments for system administration tasks. Assists with computer and server problems relating to hardware, software, and network solutions. Completes limited hardware repair, replacement, and upgrades. Support may vary from in-person assistance, through phone, or online/remote desktop applications. Troubleshoots any desktop, applications, software, systems, printers, and other PC devices, as well as connectivity. Assists in managing user accounts. Creates, deletes, activates, deactivates, modifies, fixes user accounts, and updates passwords across various platforms. Assists in managing all endpoint devices to include desktops, laptops, and smartphones. Will assist in the daily monitoring of status, progress, and resolution of help‑desk tickets. Will provide timely updates and ticket status to employees and managers, primarily aiming for immediate ticket resolutions. Responsible for escalating pertinent IT issues to the Director of IT, as deemed appropriate. Assists in ensuring proper communication and coordination with involved providers in times of outages or maintenance schedules. Maintains up‑to‑date knowledge of networking to troubleshoot computer problems, i.e., connections & file‑level security. In support of MU initiatives, will be responsible for interfacing with Regional Maintenance Centers (RMC), Ship's Force, and System Commands (SYSCOMS) on a limited basis. Other relevant duties as assigned. Qualifications
Associate’s degree in a related discipline. Additional years of related experience may be considered instead of a degree. Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a systems administrator or Help Desk in a corporate environment. Must have current working knowledge of computers, printers, laptops, and shared Windows applications. Must have current working knowledge of desktop operating systems and applications. Must have current working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. A PLUS: Experience or certification in Microsoft Windows Server/Active Directory. A PLUS: Experience or certification in supporting and administering Microsoft 365, Azure, or Intune. A PLUS: Experience in Linux System Administration or command line proficiency. Preferred: Experience with recent U.S. Navy maintenance processes and working with U.S. Navy maintenance IT systems. Preferred: Experience working with U.S. Navy maintenance IT systems, specifically, with OMMS‑NG and/or AWN. Experience with SKED 3.2 is a plus.
