Job Overview: Microsoft is seeking a skilled Level 3 Data Center Technician to join its IT team. This role is ideal for candidates with strong experience in data center operations, server installations, and network infrastructure.
The technician will be responsible for maintaining IT systems, performing break-fix tasks, and ensuring uninterrupted access to network services. GPU deployment experience in a hyperscale environment is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
Perform Level 1 and Level 2 tasks as needed, including server and switch movement, inspection, installation, and cabling. Component installation (NIC, drives, memory). Firmware updates and IP configuration. Troubleshooting and break-fix support. Rack and stack temporary setups for remote configuration. Deploy and configure GPUs in servers. Manage and resolve ITSM tickets. Lead build activities and ensure alignment with data center standards. Provide documentation and daily updates using MS Office and customer tracking tools. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and operational standards. Support network admins with cabling, optics, and hardware replacements. Handle optical modules (SFPs, QSFPs) and clean fibers (SC, LC, MPO). Manage multiple projects under high-stress conditions. Travel as required. Required Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. 4+ years of experience in a hyperscale data center environment. Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and safely climb ladders. Capability to wear personal protective gear and stand/walk for extended periods. Preferred Skills
GPU deployment experience. Strong troubleshooting and hardware installation skills. Experience with fiber optic cabling (Cat5, Cat6, SM/MM/MPO). Leadership and workload management in fast-paced environments. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
