Description: Level 3 Data Center Technician (B-side Nights: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and every other Wednesday, 6pā6a). We are seeking a skilled Level 3 Data Center Technician to join our IT team. The role involves maintaining the data center's IT systems, troubleshooting issues, performing server installations, and ensuring uninterrupted access to network services. The candidate should have a strong understanding of network infrastructure and data center operations, familiarity with server installations and network updates, GPU experience, and 4+ years in a hyperscale environment. This position is onsite in Mount Pleasant, WI, with a team based in the South Eastern Wisconsin area and a 3x4x12 schedule across multiple MSFT shifts (A/B/Days/Nights). Responsibilities
Perform tasks listed under Level 1 and Level 2 as needed. Move servers and switches to required destinations for installation. Inspect servers and switches to ensure they are not damaged. Install servers and switches and cable them according to provided wire maps. Ensure all cables are bundled neatly and in accordance with standards. Double-check with network admins to ensure everything is cabled correctly and all connections are up. Install additional components needed (NIC, Drive, Memory). Assist in unboxing and prepping servers as needed. Audit servers and consumables. Troubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problem that the server is encountering. Order replacement parts and install them in servers; ship defective parts back to vendors. Update firmware on servers to ensure the latest version is installed. Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers. Assist network admins with server-related issues, including cabling changes and component replacements. Temporarily rack and stack a server or switch in a cabinet and cable it for remote access by the network admin. Assist network admins with requests for specific server or switch assistance. Deploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality. Perform break-fix tasks, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components. Provide advanced troubleshooting support and resolution of tickets. Serve as the initial contact/liaison between team members and management. Prioritize and manage workload across the team. Review build documentation before projects and validate questions or concerns. Direct build activities related to data center operations and ensure alignment with data center standards. Provide thought leadership to aid growth across the program and manage multiple projects with high stress tolerance. Monitor project deadlines and provide status updates to project managers. Ensure compliance with safety measures and data center standards. Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components. Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word). Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including weekends and/or holidays. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds; ability to safely climb ladders; ability to wear PPE when necessary. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. 4+ years of experience in a hyperscale environment. Data center, deployment, fiber optic cable, cable, rack and stack, cabling, troubleshooting, Cat6, Cat5, GPU. CompTIA A+ or equivalent; CompTIA Server+ or equivalent; CCENT or equivalent. Windows OS experience; CCNA preferred; MCP/MSCE preferred. Scripting experience preferred (PowerShell, Python, Bash). Experience with structured cabling, rack & stack, fiber or optical testing; understanding of storage devices. Experience managing work in a ticketing system; familiarity with ITIL/ITSM concepts. Strong understanding of OSI Network Fundamentals (Layers 1-3). Experience with building, testing, and running cables between devices; copper and fiber optic cabling installation/termination. GPU deployment and troubleshooting experience. OSHA30 or higher certification. Location: Onsite in Mount Pleasant, WI. The pay range for this position is $33.60 per hour.
