Lance Corporal (5 yrs or more certified experience): $70,566

Work Schedule 12‑hour rotating shifts (days, nights, holidays, weekends required). Position advertised for a minimum of five (5) business days; may be closed at discretion of department.
Qualifications
High school diploma
At least 21 years of age at hire
Certified police officer in accordance with SC Code of Laws 23‑6‑430
Knowledge of proper law‑enforcement officer behavior and role
Knowledge of modern law‑enforcement techniques and procedures
Knowledge of how to collect and preserve evidence, legal rights of suspects and officers, laws of South Carolina, and university policies
Skill in operation of law‑enforcement vehicles, weapons, and communications equipment
Physically qualified and able to pass a background investigation
Must complete SC Criminal Justice Academy prior to duties and maintain certification
Responsibilities
Patrol assigned area to prevent crime and detect violations; apprehend and arrest violators
Respond to complaints, reports of violations and requests for assistance
Keep records and make reports regarding all activities
Assist with crime prevention measures and programs; conduct preliminary investigations
Issue warnings and citations (criminal and internal disciplinary)
Investigate traffic accidents; direct traffic and control crowds
Testify in court and other proceedings, including prosecution in magistrate’s court
Process and document crime scenes
Conduct surveillance and perform undercover assignments
Collect and present evidence to obtain and execute search and/or arrest warrants
Assist with dispatch operations
Perform other related duties as requested
