Overview The Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory (FMEL) invites applications for a 12-month non-tenure-accruing position that will be 100% research (Florida Agricultural Experiment Station), available at FMEL in the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, University of Florida. The assignment may change in accordance with the needs of the unit. Duties will include research on the biology and control of mosquitoes and the pathogens they transmit with emphasis on applied research topics that affect Florida mosquito control and public health. The faculty member will participate actively in undergraduate and graduate education by chairing graduate committees, serving on graduate committees, supervising thesis and dissertation research, supervising undergraduate research, and publishing the results with their graduate students. Responsibilities

Conduct research on the biology and control of mosquitoes and the pathogens they transmit, with emphasis on applied topics relevant to Florida mosquito control and public health.

Participate actively in undergraduate and graduate education by chairing and serving on graduate committees, supervising thesis and dissertation research, supervising undergraduate research, and publishing results with graduate students.

Engage in related service and professional responsibilities consistent with the unit’s needs.

Qualifications

A doctorate (foreign equivalent acceptable) in Entomology or a closely related discipline is required.

Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, interpersonal relationships, and procurement of extramural funding.

Commitment to the mission of the Land-Grant system and to UF core values.

Preferred Qualifications

Postdoctoral experience is desirable.

Special consideration for candidates with experience in mosquito/vector/arbovirus control research.
