Job Summary:
Support the implementation and optimization of Microsoft Fabric across the organization. You'll be instrumental in building semantic models, refactoring reporting systems, and ensuring data readiness for AI integration. Develop, refine, and maintain SQL views, stored procedures, and reports for the firm's data warehouse and data lake environments. Lead and support projects tied to the firm's Microsoft Fabric implementation, including data modeling and report optimization. Manage ad hoc data requests, balancing multiple priorities effectively. Partner with internal stakeholders to transform existing reports into intuitive dashboards that reduce complexity and improve accessibility. Participate in efforts to standardize datasets and implement consistent naming conventions and metadata structures to ensure AI readiness. Collaborate with colleagues to implement source control systems (Git, Redgate) and integrate changes with ticket tracking tools (TFS). Support the ongoing evolution of reporting, including transitioning from paginated reports to dynamic dashboards and user-friendly visualizations. Preferred Skills of the Data Engineer:
Strong experience with
SQL
(queries, indexing, stored procedures, performance optimization). Solid understanding of
data warehousing concepts
including fact/dimension tables, star vs. snowflake schema design. Proven ability to build and optimize reports using
Power BI ,
Power BI Report Builder , or
SSRS . Demonstrated
data literacy
and understanding of relational database design principles. Familiarity with
ETL processes , particularly using
Azure Data Factory Pipelines
or similar tools. Bonus Skills of the Data Engineer:
Hands-on experience with
Microsoft Fabric
and its Medallion architecture. Exposure to
Git
for version control,
Synapse , and
