What you’ll do St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center – North Campus (FTC-N) is a 75-bed inpatient forensic psychiatric hospital serving adults committed to the Department of Mental Health as incompetent to stand trial. The psychologist hired will provide treatment and conduct the duties of a unit psychologist on a 25-bed inpatient competency restoration treatment unit. The facility seeks a person passionate about inpatient treatment and team‑based work.
In this role, you will provide individual and group therapies to persons committed as incompetent to stand trial, with a focus on those with severe and persistent mental illness, neurocognitive impairment, intellectual impairment, and personality disorders. Experience with substance use disorders is an asset. Specific training in competency restoration interventions is provided.
You will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary treatment team, participating in team decision‑making, treatment planning, and consultation with psychiatry, pharmacy, nursing, social work, and rehabilitation staff. You will also conduct psychological assessments as needed—administering, scoring, interpreting intellectual, neurocognitive, and personality assessments and providing written reports for diagnostic clarification and treatment planning. Competency evaluations for the court may also be conducted.
All psychologists serve the entire facility through leadership of and participation in facility committees and special projects to meet Joint Commission accreditation standards. You may also function as a supervisor for the St. Louis Psychology Internship Consortium (SLPIC) and provide didactics in individual areas of specialty.
Duties Include
Develop and implement individual treatment plans
Conduct individual therapy and lead treatment groups
Conduct psychological assessments as needed and complete necessary treatment documentation
Opportunities to supervise practicum students and psychology interns
Participate in hospital‑wide committees and other leadership opportunities available within the hospital
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate in Psychology
Preferred Qualifications
Licensure as a Psychologist, or license eligibility in Missouri
If not licensed at the time of hire, must attain license within 18 months
