Electrical Engineer 3 – Grid
Join Sargent & Lundy as an Electrical Engineer 3 – Grid. This hybrid role involves work in office and remote.
Responsibilities
Work in a project team with engineers and designers on detailed electrical design and project management of high‑voltage substation projects.
Take an active role in project conceptualization, work planning, and execution.
Investigate, troubleshoot and solve a wide variety of electrical engineering issues.
Prepare reports presenting technical and project information clearly and concisely to meet client requirements and S&L formats.
Share knowledge with other experienced engineers through S&L’s systems of process and associated Communities of Practice.
Travel to client sites as needed.
Qualifications
BSEE degree from an ABET‑accredited engineering program.
3+ years experience designing medium‑voltage power systems.
Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints.
Experience tracking project information (schedules, expenditures, preparing status reports, client interface).
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Experience reviewing design drawings created by others.
Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Valued But Not Required Experience
1+ years experience designing substations 138 kV and above.
Ability to prepare substation grounding calculations, direct stroke shielding calculations, battery & charger sizing calculations, etc.
Physical layout and protection & controls experience.
Work with designer to develop substation single‑line diagrams, relaying & metering diagrams, DC schematic diagrams, substation plan & sections, grounding plans, etc.
Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards related to substation design; includes National Electrical Safety Code (ANSI‑C2).
PE license.
AutoCAD experience.

Compensation Range $72,690.00 – $106,250.00

The total compensation package for eligible positions will include a base salary or hourly rate and a comprehensive benefits package. Individuals may also be eligible to participate in our yearly discretionary bonus.
