About The Role The Senior Specialist, Strategic Sourcing, supports the procurement and sourcing of protein‑raw materials and packaging to meet plant production needs. This role ensures timely, cost‑effective purchasing, maintains supplier relationships, and assists in identifying cost‑saving opportunities. This position is hands‑on with buying and sourcing tasks, serves as a key contributor to the sourcing function. This role does not have direct reports and executes sourcing plans and initiatives defined by the Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Execute purchase orders to secure raw materials and packaging for production schedules.
Review forecasts and inventory levels to determine procurement requirements.
Communicate with suppliers to confirm orders, track shipments, and resolve delivery or quality issues.
Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier data in ERP and related systems.
Support the Director in supplier performance tracking, cost analysis, and reporting.
Provide sourcing information, market research, and vendor options to assist with negotiations.
Collaborate with Operations and Production teams to ensure on‑time material availability.
Assist in implementing process improvements related to buying and inventory management.
Support sourcing needs for new product launches as directed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
Education: Completion of some college coursework in Business or a related field required.
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
Two or more years of experience in procurement, sourcing or buying, preferably in manufacturing or food industry environment.
Competencies and Skills
Understanding of sourcing and procurement processes.
Knowledge of suppliers and materials in the food/protein industry.
Strong attention to detail and follow‑through.
Solid communication and relationship‑building skills.
Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Collaborative, proactive, and solution‑oriented.
Physical Demands
Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a computer.
Ability to move about the facility regularly, including lifting up to 50 lbs., as well as bending, standing, and walking.
Visual and hearing acuity required.
