Job Summary The position supports a nationally-funded grant focusing on diagnosing persons living with dementia in underserved primary care settings. The project focuses on the dementia diagnostic process related to primary care practice, patients with cognitive impairment, and caregivers. The position is critically important to the overall operational management of clinical research activities. It is directly responsible for implementing diverse research activities at numerous clinical sites.

Responsibilities Include working with the team to manage the day-to-day operations of the research study, such as training, supporting, and monitoring activities at participating primary care sites. The role involves contributing to the development and implementation of data collection tools (e.g., surveys), data analysis, fostering partnerships, and leading community engagement efforts with the clinical sites.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining tracking databases and coordinating the needs of clinical teams and study collaborators across multiple sites. Administrative duties involve drafting study protocols and managing IRB deliverables such as submissions, amendments, renewals, progress reports, and related materials. The role also assists the primary care teams with scheduling study participants, obtaining informed consent, and administering brief cognitive assessments.

This position requires extensive interaction with research collaborators at UCSF and across a variety of clinical and community-based settings.

Required Qualifications

HS graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities; and/or equivalent experience/training

Excellent demonstrated interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills.

Knowledge of clinical research contracts and grants.

Experience with IRB submissions and modifications.

Experience using the REDCap database.

Experience using database software.

Experience in the collection and management of data.

Demonstrated ability to develop recruitment strategies in complex environments and differing primary care practices and patient pools: independently identifying recruitment leads, implementing new strategies, and continually adjusting strategies to meet current project goals.

Analytical skills to evaluate the importance and urgency of problems.

Ability to operate effectively in a changing organizational and technological environment.

Ability to develop project plans/schedules and motivate the team to meet deadlines.

A track record of sensitive, supportive, respectful, and productive relations with community members, research participants, partnering clinic and organizational staff, and research team members.

Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality when interacting with patient participants or participating in other similarly sensitive discussions.

Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns that arise during research activities or communications, maintaining a professional demeanor, and escalating issues when the situation calls for it.

Knowledge of and experience interacting with low-income patients and community members.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual, bicultural, Mandarin or Cantonese language skills are preferred.
