Job Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient and safe handling, shipping, receiving, packaging, and delivery of materials within the Coralville area. This role includes operating material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, coordinating with internal departments, and ensuring accurate documentation of all material transactions in ERP systems. The position also involves driving a company van to deliver and pick up materials between nearby buildings.
Key Responsibilities: Drive company van to transport materials between company buildings in the Coralville area. Coordinate shipping, receiving, and material handling transactions with appropriate individuals or departments. Pick, inventory, and package materials, routing them to the correct departments as needed. Prepare merchandise for shipment and verify accuracy of shipments against bills of lading, invoices, or other records using Oracle or similar ERP systems. Set up locations in ERP systems and resolve purchase order and receiving discrepancies with planner-buyers. Arrange stock for maximum efficiency and accessibility while adhering to safety standards. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently. Deliver received products to the appropriate destinations and expedite internal material transfers, including inventory movement to MRB. Utilize DBS tools such as Danaher Material Processing (DMP) and Visual Management to organize material presentation in production cells. Perform physical inventories and cycle counts of materials, reconciling discrepancies with assistance from Senior Material Handler. Required Skills:
Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling tools. Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills. Basic computer skills with experience using ERP systems (e.g., Oracle). Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, invoices, and inventory reports. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Ability to lift and move materials as required. Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Required Experience:
Prior experience in material handling, shipping/receiving, or warehouse operations preferred.
Experience with ERP systems (Oracle preferred) is a plus.
