Software Development Senior Manager (OCI)
Location:
Nashville, TN (primary) or Austin, TX (secondary) – onsite required. Relocation assistance provided. This is not a remote position.
Job Summary:
Lead a high‑performance Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) service team, owning road‑map, architecture, delivery and operation of scalable, highly available distributed systems. You will manage people, guide engineering practices, and drive feature execution while ensuring quality and alignment with OCI's core values of equity, inclusion and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Apply architectural expertise to develop, debug and design distributed soft‑ware, operating systems and databases.
Own and build a highly available OCI service, ensuring performance, scalability and resiliency.
Provide strategic leadership to a dedicated engineering team.
Drive execution of the service roadmap, ensuring projects are delivered on time and at high quality.
Engage in hands‑on management, including handling escalations and coordinating code deployments under change‑management protocols.
Maintain and deepen technical depth in software development practices and architectural design.
Lead the team in Agile methodologies in a fast‑paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications
BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.
5+ years of people‑management experience in software engineering.
7+ years of experience delivering and operating large‑scale, highly available distributed systems.
3+ years leading in large‑scale organizations with multiple layers of management.
Proficient in Java, Go, C++ or C with scripting skills in Python.
Deep knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems and distributed systems fundamentals.
Familiar with cloud infrastructure, storage protocols and standard network architectures.
Experience with databases, storage and distributed persistence technologies.
Strong troubleshooting and performance‑tuning capabilities.
Proven ability to build scalable, cloud‑native distributed systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building services on a public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP or OCI).
Experience with multi‑tenant, virtualized infrastructure or cloud marketplace domain.
