Patient Services Coordinator – Hospital Medicine
The Patient Services Coordinator on the G11 Hospital Medicine Unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center coordinates and schedules patient appointments and has a direct impact on patient care services. The role works 3/12-hour shifts from 7am-7pm, with rotating weekends and holidays required.
Hourly Salary Range:
Minimum $19.23 – Midpoint $24.04 – Maximum $28.85

A 30‑bed inpatient unit providing care to adult medical oncology inpatients with solid tumor malignancies (primary services include genitourinary, breast, and internal medicine). Patients require nursing interventions for the management of chronic and acute disease‑related symptoms, pain control, treatment‑related side effects, chemotherapy and biotherapy administration, and patient and family teaching.
Essential Job Functions:
Schedule provider appointments, diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments.
Prepare and maintain daily appointment templates and patient records in One Connect (Epic).
Communicate pertinent information to families, physicians, team members, and other patient care areas.
Prepare patient materials and documentation in accordance with established procedures.
Collect co‑payments and validate patient insurance and demographic information.
Update payment and patient information accurately.
Reconcile One Connect cash drawer on a daily basis.
Validate the Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ).
Ensure coordination of benefits and assignment of Hospital Account Record (HAR).
Follow institutional and center‑specific standard operating procedures.
Protect the security and confidentiality of patient information at all times.
Education:
Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Preferred: Associate’s Degree.
Work Experience:
Required: 3 years of relevant work experience, or additional education may be substituted on a one‑to‑one basis.
Other Requirements:
Must pass pre‑employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
Security & Compliance:
This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure. The candidate must satisfy all requirements for security screening and ongoing compliance.
