About the Role
A financial services company in Plano has an immediate opening for a Manager – IT Security and Network. This high‑visibility role reports to the CIO and involves hands‑on cyber security and network configuration support, as well as leading and managing the helpdesk and systems administration functions for the company.
What you will do
Secure the company’s IT assets, including software, hardware, firewalls, network, servers, PCs, laptops and mobile devices.
Secure Microsoft Azure and AWS cloud components and services.
Conduct and monitor penetration tests and remediate vulnerabilities.
Handle security aspects of firewalls, switches, routers, VPN, remote management and security gateways.
Collaborate with third‑party vendors on cyber security projects – penetration tests, server patches, desktop/laptop patches (via WSUS) and network configuration.
Install and upgrade computer and network components and software; manage virtual servers and integrate automation processes (e.g., Microsoft WSUS).
Troubleshoot hardware and software errors through diagnostics, documentation, prioritization and impact assessment.
Work with IT leadership to plan and implement new infrastructure or upgrade existing IT infrastructure.
Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate data protection, disaster recovery and fail‑over procedures.
Provide helpdesk support to resolve desktop application, workstation and related equipment issues in a timely manner.
Manage capacity planning, storage planning and network performance.
Perform periodic bandwidth testing and ensure network connectivity is optimized.
What you should have
Associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, system administration, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered).
Minimum of 7–8 years of hands‑on security and network administration experience.
Minimum 2–3 years of management experience with direct reports for helpdesk and system administration functions.
Experience installing and managing servers, desktops, laptops and software patches.
Experience conducting penetration tests and fixing problems.
Strong knowledge of helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including security, storage, data protection and disaster recovery protocols.
Experience with Secure Firewalls and hands‑on experience with Cisco MX95.
Full understanding of firewall concepts (security zones, policy ordering, audit log analysis, address sets, negated addresses, user roles, route‑based policies, address books, application traffic control, etc.).
Good understanding of routing (OSPF/EIGRP/BGP) and switching technology.
Excellent understanding of proxy‑based products (hands‑on preferred).
Good knowledge of Linux and Windows.
Strong understanding of security technologies such as VPNs, IDS/IPS, endpoint security solutions (AV, HIPS, hard‑disk encryption), authentication products (Bitglass, MS Defender), content security gateways (Cisco IronPort), DLP and load balancing.
Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware and protocols.
Experience with scripting and automation tools.
Preferred experience/qualifications
Experience with firewalls, switches, routers, VPNs, remote management, troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Experience with Azure AD and MS Defender.
Experience with AWS security (security groups, NACLs, security policies).
Professional certifications such as CISSP, CCNA, or other relevant credentials.
Linux, Microsoft, Cisco or other network‑related certifications.
Working knowledge of virtualization (VMware) and cloud hosting.
AWS and Azure security certifications.
