Base pay range $220,000.00/yr – $260,000.00/yr

Summary This is an open continuous announcement until September 30, 2026. Qualified applicants will be considered and referred as vacancies become available. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student‑loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Qualifications

United States Citizenship: Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA policy.

Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine, obtained from an approved VA school.

Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory or Commonwealth, or D.C.

Residency training: Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program leading to eligibility for board certification. (Includes ACGME, AOA, or other programs with at least five years of U.S. practice).

Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency programs who would otherwise meet the basic requirements are eligible for appointment as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs).

PRPs must hold a fully licensed physician status and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee‑basis.

PRPs are not independent practitioners and will not be privileged, but have a scope of practice under supervision.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred experience: Completion of family medicine or internal medicine residency.

Outpatient primary‑care experience.

Physical requirements: Visual acuity, hearing, speech, manual dexterity, and ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, pull, push, transfer patients/objects, and work in isolation with protective clothing; exposure to patients with delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders may occur.

Flexibility and resilience in stressful situations.

Duties

Provide comprehensive primary care to male and female veterans in an outpatient setting.

Conduct physical examinations and develop evidence‑based treatment plans with shared decision making.

Offer preventive care, health promotion, and disease education.

Provide care via multiple modalities: in‑person, telephonic, video, and secure messaging.

Evaluate clinical concerns, direct and arrange referrals, and collaborate with the Patient Aligned Care Team.

Use approved standards of care, procedures, and safety protocols.

Collaborate with other health‑care resources for continuity of care.

Maintain clinical knowledge and skills; serve as a resource for medical‑center staff.

Participate in continuous medical education, including training on opioid prescribing and women’s‑health primary‑care provider requirements.

Provide coverage for other providers when needed.

Reflect and exemplify ICARE core values: Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence.

Assist with continuity of care arrangements across the VHA system.

Provide on‑site leadership to ensure timely completion of care.

Participate in quality improvement activities and medical‑center committees as assigned by the Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for the Ambulatory Care Service.
