The School of Business has experienced increasing enrollments and fundraising success and is housed in Connecticut’s first Net Zero Energy (NZE) academic building.

Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities Southern invites applications from individuals who embrace the mission of public higher education and are committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and professional engagement. Successful candidates will be disciplinary scholars who prioritize a student-centered approach to learning.

The Department of Accounting seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in accounting, including but not limited to financial accounting, managerial accounting, auditing, taxation, accounting information systems (AIS), and data analytics for accounting. Teaching responsibilities may include daytime, evening, hybrid, or online/on-ground formats. In addition to teaching, faculty are expected to engage in scholarly activity, contribute to university and departmental service, advise students, and actively participate in the professional and business communities.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Accounting or a closely related field preferred.

Candidates holding a master's degree in accounting (or a closely related discipline) who are actively pursuing a doctoral degree (ABD or near-ABD status) will be considered.

Demonstrated ability to teach financial and managerial accounting effectively to diverse undergraduate and/or graduate students.

Commitment to high-quality teaching, meaningful scholarship, ethical practice, and student engagement.

Ability to meet School of Business faculty qualification standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to teach in additional areas such as auditing, taxation, AIS, or data analytics.

Professional certification such as CPA (preferred but not required).

Evidence of scholarly activity, publications, or applied research.

Professional or industry experience in accounting or related areas.

Experience supervising student research, internships, or applied projects.

Strong communication skills and ability to make complex topics accessible to diverse learners.
