Faculty Posting Details Appointment:
School of Business and Leadership, full-time tenure-line position; begins Fall Term 2026.
Responsibilities
Teach introduction to accounting courses, with a strong emphasis on information systems. The approximately four introductory accounting courses per year should cover accounting principles, control systems, responsible AI use, Excel, data visualization, analysis and communication of quantitative data, and cloud-based accounting and collaboration tools.
One upper division quantitative elective per year is required, with the content based on the candidate's qualifications. Courses may include financial reporting and analysis, taxation or data analytics. The last course may be an additional quantitative course or it may be a course that contributes to the University core. Teaching should include projects that stimulate independent critical thinking, promote effective written and oral communication skills, facilitate experiential learning, and develop problem solving.
The standard teaching assignment is three courses per semester.
Other duties include professional development, university service and departmental service, advising students, and participation in departmental and university governance.
The University of Puget Sound is an undergraduate liberal arts college with small classes providing individual attention.
Qualifications
Ph.D. or D.B.A. (ABD considered) in accounting, data analytics, data science, economics, information systems, business intelligence, operations or other business discipline
Graduate work in accounting
Will consider Ph.D. in appropriate liberal arts disciplines related to accounting.
For those candidates whose doctoral degrees are in non-business disciplines, relevant work experience in the area of accounting can be considered.
Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching and liberal arts education.

Compensation and Benefits Rank: Assistant Professor
Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Faculty salaries at the University of Puget Sound are based on a common salary scale based on experience. Assistant Professor salaries for 2025-2026 begin at $83,576 annualized for an Assistant Professor without a terminal degree in their field in their first year of full-time postdoctoral teaching through $94,086 annualized based on experience.
