Middle Georgia State University (MGA), a public institution granting baccalaureate and graduate degrees, is recruiting a tenure‑track Assistant/Associate Professor of Political Science to join the Department of History & Political Science in the School of Arts & Letters. MGA has five campuses—Macon, Cochran, Dublin, Eastman, and Warner Robins—and a fully online campus serving more than 8,400 students.
The mission of the department is to provide excellence and integrity in teaching, research, and service, fostering positive contributions to our region and students. Faculty mentor students in history and political science, supporting research, outreach, and the university’s general education mission.
Job Summary The position will support the BS in Political Science, the Core Curriculum, and other programs as needed. It involves a 4/4 course load, scholarship, service, and student advisement, primarily based on the Macon campus with possible travel to other campuses.
Responsibilities
Teach a 4/4 course load, including day, evening, online, hybrid, and video‑conference classes.
Engage in scholarship and research promoting deeper understanding and intellectual discourse.
Provide student advisement and service to the university community.
Participate in travel between campuses as needed.
Required Qualifications
Terminal academic credential in Political Science and/or related field.
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver courses at undergraduate levels in American Government, International Relations, State and Local Government, and/or Public Policy.
Active involvement in scholarly and creative practice.
Interest in and commitment to contributing to the growth and evolution of Political Science programming.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Political Science from an accredited institution.
At least two years of teaching experience at the college or university level.
Experience with online and/or hybrid delivery of coursework.
Evidence of innovative pedagogical practices.
