Position Summary The Senior Royalty Analyst manages the end-to-end royalty accounting process, ensuring accurate calculation, analysis, and distribution of royalties to artists, labels, and partners. This role requires deep royalty expertise, strong technical and analytical skills, and the ability to support complex deal structures across distribution, joint venture, and profit‑share arrangements.
Candidate(s) must be located in one of gamma.'s registered states: CA, TN, GA, SC, NY, NJ, MA, PA.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and semi‑annual artist and label royalty statements across multiple deal types (distribution, joint venture, P&D, profit share, etc.)
Read and interpret artist, label, and producer contracts, and accurately input deal terms (including royalty rates, recoupable costs, and participation splits) into the royalty system (Curve)
Maintain accuracy and completeness of royalty data across ERP (NetSuite) and royalty systems
Analyze revenue and cost data from DSPs, sub‑distributors, and other third‑party sources to ensure proper allocation by artist, product, and territory
Support recoupment tracking for advances, marketing & promotion costs, and production expenses
Perform monthly reconciliations between financial statements and royalty subsystems
Collaborate and partner cross‑functionally with A&R, Finance, Legal, and Operations to validate deal terms and resolve reporting issues
Assist with royalty audits
Recommend process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance accuracy, speed, and scalability
Support the Director of Accounting and VP of Finance with ad hoc analyses and dashboards
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3–5 years of experience in royalty accounting, preferably within music, entertainment, or digital media
Strong knowledge of royalty structures, contractual recoupment, and industry reporting standards
Solid understanding of revenue recognition, recoupment, and artist participation models
Proficiency with Excel (SUMIFS, INDEX‑MATCH/XLOOKUP, pivot tables) and comfort with large data sets
Self‑starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a high‑growth environment
Excellent communication skills – comfortable working cross‑functionally and explaining financial data to non‑finance stakeholders
Preferred Qualities
Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and royalty management software (Curve preferred)
Familiarity with US and international royalty reporting standards
Experience across multiple royalty deal types (distribution, JV, P&D, profit‑share, admin)
Process‑oriented mindset with strong attention to detail
Collaborative team player with a proactive and solutions‑driven approach
