Position Announcement Position: Associate Dean of Health Sciences – North Metro Campus.
Position Description The Associate Dean of Health Sciences reports to the Dean of Health Sciences to foster effective cooperation, coordination, and communication across multiple campuses with regards to the college’s Health Sciences Academic division. The primary responsibilities of the Associate Dean are oversight of assigned programs, supervision of program faculty, and management of the health sciences admission processes. Position requires periodic travel between college campuses.
Major Duties Health Sciences Program Admission (excluding School of Nursing)
Work with Health Sciences Program Directors to establish admission criteria and deadlines
Assure current program admission requirements are published, transparent, and posted accurately to the college’s website
Develop Consistencies between programs
Ensure content of admissions documents is clear and accurate
Coordinate with academic advising for consistency of information
Coordinate and supervise the applicant to admission process
Develop accurate records that reflect applicants’ records
Maintain records of program applicants for required period of time
Identify the applicants for program admission using admission criteria and applicants’ records
Notify applicants of admission status
Oversight and Implementation of Health Science Programs in assigned area
May assist faculty, where needed, in addressing all aspects of verifying program learning outcomes, including identification, review, revision, measurement, and analysis of said outcomes.
Assist faculty in attainment and continuance of program‑specific accreditation under assigned supervision and in coordination with the Dean as needed.
Coordinate with the Dean to review and administer budgets under assigned areas. Ensures faculty/staff adherence to budget and purchasing requirements.
May compile program statistics such as enrollment, in‑term and between‑term retention rates, graduation rate, and placement rate to ensure program viability
May work with program faculty on TCSG curriculum review process; recommends to Dean any current curriculum changes, program additions, and program terminations
Supervises personnel as assigned within the organizational structure of the college.
Works with Human Resources personnel to coordinate new faculty and staff hires in areas of supervision; verifies appropriate qualifications.
Ensure that Health Sciences programs under their supervision have adequate adjunct faculty and/or lab assistants to meet established goals
Coordinate with Program Directors under their supervision to ensure adjunct faculty job openings are posted
Conducts annual performance reviews of faculty, program directors, and/or clinical coordinators under their supervision
Reviews and approves staff development plans of division faculty and/or staff under their supervision
Reviews course evaluations by students and assists faculty in addressing issues as needed.
Coordinates with the Dean to deal with faculty concerns.
Ensures adherence to faculty/staff work schedule and office hours.
Implementation of College/Academic Policies and Procedures
Works to ensure the consistent exercise of college and TCSG academic policies, procedures, rules, regulations, as well as Health Science specific rules.
Serve as Associate Dean in Grade Appeal Process for all Health Sciences programs (excluding School of Nursing)
May deal with any student issues that arise in the division.
Participates in review of college and division academic policy.
College and Community Context
Reports to and supports the Dean of Health Sciences; actively works with faculty, deans, directors, and VPAA as part of the Academic Leadership Team.
Makes expeditious and sound decisions on issues related to the performance of duties and responsibilities within the position’s authority and the organizational structure of the college.
Coordinates reviews of publication information for assigned areas.
Oversight to assure all division programmatic information (Eg, Essential Functions, FAQ’s, Outcomes, and other data required by accrediting agencies) are current and accurate, and have been posted to the college’s website
Maintains contact with and/or visitation to all appropriate college facilities as assigned.
Serves on appropriate college standing and ad hoc committees. Recommends to dean faculty and staff assignments to standing and ad hoc committees.
Maintains an appropriate professional, community, and leadership presence, behavior, and image.
Other responsibilities as directed by the Dean of Health Sciences
Knowledge Required
Knowledge and experience with academic programmatic or regional accreditation
Knowledge of the functions and objectives of health sciences
Curriculum development, instructional methodology, planning, and evaluation
Demonstrated computer skills in word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation applications.
Excellent problem solving/critical thinking skills
Research skills
Knowledge of federal, state, and local guidelines
Budget Management
Ability to perform strategic and tactical planning
Demonstrated skills in training and/or personnel development.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field *and* Two (2) years of teaching or supervisory experience in a post‑secondary institution.
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years’ experience as a Program Director, Clinical Coordinator, or full‑time faculty in a health occupations program or closely related coursework
Experience with programmatic or regional academic accreditation
Demonstrated leadership experience
Experience with Blackboard Learn or other Online Learning Management Systems
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department
Salary/Benefits $79,550.00 annually. Benefits include paid holidays, annual leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program.
