Senior Vice President of Talent Acquisition and Recruitment at SBH Fashion Job Title:

Senior Designer Location: Washington, D.C.

Looking for a Senior Designer to create innovative, eye‑catching designs that fit with the brand aesthetic. This person is responsible for the execution of ready‑to‑wear styles based on the brand vision for the company’s private label. They will work closely with the Founders, merchants and vendors to develop and create products that meet the desired aesthetic and pricing parameters. The products developed for the brand in this category should delight our customers and drive profitability.

Core Responsibilities

Draw, design, and develop new apparel samples, and create and turn in documentation worksheet and manufacturing plan.

Participate in meetings to discuss designs and line development, and present and review line and concepts regularly.

Identify new style opportunities relevant to the customer base through market research; translate current fashion trends to determine what the brand’s customer will want to wear.

Develop ideas for new products based on research data and collaborate with the Product Developer on execution.

Test and decide on fabrics, colors, patterns and textures for each design.

Manage the ready‑to‑wear design process, including taking a lead role in the fit sessions.

Maintain corporate standards for bulk production.

Assist team with communicating to vendors on design, production, and other issues as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

8‑10 years of prior experience in fashion design or product development for a women’s fashion branded lifestyle company.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Attention to detail and artistic ability to transform a design from an idea into a physical illustration and then, eventually, to a prototype on which the finished product will be based.

A keen sense of style, color and fabric.

Creativity: you must be able to generate ideas for products that fit with the aesthetic and lifestyle.

Ability to collaborate well with others coupled with specific experience in design.

Ability to develop new products with the conceptual thinking to avoid potential issues in garment construction and meet pricing parameters. A strong knowledge of woven and knit fabrics and garments and have a good eye for fashion.

Strong knowledge of quality, make, and production integrity appropriate for the brand’s merchandise.

Sound thinking necessary to accomplish detailed, complex tasks, as well as the ability to anticipate potential problems and provide effective solutions.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to communicate effectively with internal colleagues, management and vendors.

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 + bonus
