About the Opportunity
A rapidly expanding
engineering firm
is seeking a
Director of Finance
to lead financial operations and support ongoing integration following recent strategic acquisition activity. The organization is scaling nationally and requires a sharp, proactive finance leader who can operate effectively in a
multi-entity, project-based environment . This role will have direct visibility with senior executives and will be instrumental in refining financial infrastructure, optimizing reporting, and driving strategic financial planning across the business.
Key Responsibilities of the Director of Finance
Lead the financial management function, including reporting, planning, budgeting, and forecasting
Standardize and streamline accounting and finance processes across acquired entities
Manage revenue recognition, project accounting, WIP reporting, and job cost structures
Develop financial reporting dashboards and KPIs to guide business performance decisions
Partner with senior leadership to support strategy, resource planning, and financial risk assessments
Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes with adherence to GAAP
Provide leadership, mentorship, and development for accounting & finance teams across multiple offices
Support ongoing acquisition due diligence and integration activities
Implement process optimization for efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
7+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting
Experience in
multi-entity or multi-office environments
Strong analytical skills and the ability to present financial insights to senior leadership
Proven process improvement and systems optimization experience
Preferred: AEC industry experience (architecture, engineering, or construction)
CPA and/or Big 4 background strongly preferred
Experience with project accounting, WIP, and utilization metrics
Previous involvement in M&A integration or growth-stage environments
Prior leadership responsibility managing staff or teams
