Role Description The Physicist applies the principles and theories of physics to improve medical equipment and technology to help diagnose and treat patients. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, verifying dosimetric plans, conducting research, performing radiation measurements and calibration, monitoring safety, maintaining regulatory records, analyzing treatment plans, and providing patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee Quality Assurance on radiation therapy treatment devices and maintain QA programs for all modalities.
Ensure accuracy of treatment unit parameters and settings used for patient treatment, including transfer of planning data.
Conduct dosimetry calculations for external beam, brachytherapy, and radiopharmaceutical therapy, including in‑vivo dosimetry and measurement systems.
Participate in implementation of new programs and technologies, such as information management systems and new treatment modalities.
Provide medical physicist consultation to physicians, staff, and patients as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Required
American Board of Radiology (ABR) certification
Therapeutic Med Physics-Cert (TMP‑C)
