Server – Sports & Social Bethesda (Washington, DC)
Live! Hospitality & Entertainment invites applicants for the Server role at Sports & Social Bethesda. The venue is a 7,700‑sq‑ft sports bar and social lounge in the Pike & Rose Development, featuring an 18‑foot LED display, multiple TV screens, and a 2,000‑sq‑ft outdoor patio.
Guests enjoy an elevated dining experience that includes made‑from‑scratch menu items, curated cocktails, live music, special events, and a variety of interactive social games.
Responsibilities
Greet guests and take beverage and food orders promptly and professionally.
Serve cocktails and menu items to bar guests; up‑sell when taking orders.
Maintain an energetic, friendly, and professional demeanor at all times.
Provide outstanding service with a smile to ensure guest satisfaction.
Communicate effectively with co‑workers, kitchen staff, and guests verbally and via the point‑of‑sales system.
Guide guests on concept products and menu items to enhance the experience and drive sales.
Check guests' identification to confirm minimum age requirements for alcohol.
Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption, ceasing service when appropriate and notifying management of any incidents.
Complete all assigned side work.
Accurately account for all sales and payments.
Alert management of service or safety issues; perform service recovery gestures per guidelines.
Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
Coordinate with bartenders and kitchen for ordering and receipt of food and beverages.
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of experience serving in a fast‑paced food‑and‑beverage venue, preferably a nightclub environment.
Knowledge of liquor brands, beer, wine, and non‑alcoholic beverages; understanding of designated glassware and garnishment methods preferred.
Must meet state legal age requirements and possess a valid alcohol‑awareness certification or food‑service permit as required by law.
Fluent in English; other languages are a plus.
Courteous, pleasant, and good‑natured.
Strong verbal communication skills; frequent interaction with guests, bartenders, wait staff, cooks, and supervisors.
Reading, writing, and basic math skills for handling orders, paperwork, and cash.
May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to handle, carry, or lift items up to 50 lb (barware, carts, boxes, bottles).
Stand and move safely throughout the facility during each shift.
Perform tasks involving handling food, utensils, and other objects safely.
Require flexibility to bend, stoop, kneel, and lift.
This is a tipped position. The hourly rate is $4.00 per hour plus tips.
