Job Overview
Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is a leading provider of on‑site mobile maintenance and repair services nationwide, serving fleets with light, medium, and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers. We maintain 50+ national service centers and operate a 24/7 in‑house call center to support scheduled and unscheduled services anywhere, anytime. The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II role is a field position responsible for performing DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, light and follow‑up repairs, and diagnostics under the guidance of senior technicians.
Shift Monday to Friday – Day shift
Job Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (electrical, brake, cooling, starters, alternators, fans, clutch, steering, engines, transmissions).
Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck systems (electrical, braking, cooling, air conditioning, steering, transmissions, clutches, differentials).
Use handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other test instruments to inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment.
Road‑test vehicles to confirm proper operation after repairs.
Independent parts inventory management and periodic reconciliation.
Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, including safety checks, pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
Engage with clients to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
Prioritize assigned tasks, manage workload, and maintain high productivity.
Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks as needed.
Document work on Repair Orders (RO) using iOS devices and the TRAIT application.
Accurately complete DOT forms and all other required documentation.
Work independently, manage own daily schedule, and maintain high safety compliance (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Maintain company‑issued service truck and conduct safety checks and daily inspections.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience (5 years is acceptable).
Possess a full set of hand tools required for job duties.
Obtain ASE certification T8 within 18 months.
Pass DOT‑regulated background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
Hold a valid DOT medical card with at least 4 months remaining (DOT physical required if less).
Be at least 21 years old and hold a valid state driver's license.

Physical stamina: lift, bend, climb, stand, walk, and perform moderately heavy labor.
Effective two‑way communication with individuals and groups.
Ability to determine and procure necessary tools and equipment.
Use logic and reasoning to evaluate strengths, weaknesses, and alternatives.
