Cost Accountant

Job Overview Our client is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant with a strong background in manufacturing and government contracting. This role focuses on cost analysis, inventory valuation, pricing support, and audit readiness.

Responsibilities

Maintain and analyze standard costs, gross margins, and labor trends

Support job cost estimates and contract performance reviews

Conduct and reconcile annual physical inventory (multi-site)

Perform cost of sales calculations, journal entries, and product line reporting

Assist with pricing proposals and support audits

Analyze excess/obsolete inventory and warranty reserves

Support ad hoc cost and operations projects

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

7–10 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment

Strong understanding of standard cost systems, BOM roll-ups, and job costing

Experience with physical inventory valuation and reconciliation

Familiarity with government contract compliance

Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookup functions, modeling)

ERP experience
