As a Senior Actuary at CMT, you'll help shape the future of usage-based insurance by advancing our telematics pricing and risk models. You'll lead regulatory model filings, collaborate with data scientists and engineers to refine scoring algorithms, and apply actuarial expertise to support insurer partners. This role combines technical product ownership, regulatory engagement, and hands‑on modeling work—ideal for an actuary who thrives at the intersection of analytics, insurance, and innovation.
Responsibilities
Lead actuarial regulatory engagements, including preparation and defense of model filings with insurance departments, ensuring compliance while advancing innovative pricing and risk models on behalf of CMT and partner insurers
Own the technical product of CMT’s telematics scoring algorithms and those of partner insurers
Collaborate with business partners and data scientists across the organization to identify and refine opportunities for CMT’s algorithms and ML models
Manage and prioritize multiple moderate‑to‑highly complex projects, including gathering business requirements, developing project goals and requirements, coordinating timelines, and communicating status with customers
Support actuarial operations and activities including risk pricing, evaluation of model lift, ROI analysis and telematics research to support UBI program
Complete any additional tasks as they arise
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience and/or certification in a related field
4+ years of relevant professional working experience
Experienced Associate in the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS), or Fellow (FCAS)
Proficient in SQL and Python for data preparation, analysis and risk modeling
Experience with risk modeling for personal or commercial auto insurance (pure premium, frequency, severity modeling)
Nice to Haves
Experience US Property & Casualty model filings for personal or commercial auto insurance
Experience using SERFF a plus but not required
Experience with technical product management a plus, but not required
Compensation and Benefits
Fair and competitive salary based on skills and experience, and annual performance bonus
Equity may be awarded in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)

Base salary range for this position in Cambridge, MA: $103,400 to $129,200.
