Description
Design Engineer I is an entry level engineering position that provides design and analysis of engineering elements and applies engineering principals and standards for development of studies, designs and construction documents. Design Engineers I are expected to be able to operate CADD and analysis based programs for their technical discipline.
Functions Likely To Include
Prepare engineering design, studies and reports.
Determine / reviews appropriate application of technical methods of the work and verify compliance with criteria.
Participate / Reviews the development of engineering design details, specifications, contract drawings and estimates.
Prepare construction contract documents including final design details, construction drawings, specifications and estimates.
Participate in team meetings and presentations such as public meetings.
Perform traffic data collection, analyses and field reviews.

Qualifications
Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
0-3 years' of experience
Engineering in Training (EIT) certification
Computer Skills: Exposure to Microstation, Microstation Connect, ProjectWise, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office programs, HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, VISIO, SIDRA, VISSIM
Excellent problem-solving, oral and written communication skills
Familiarity with local, state and federal engineering requirements, specifications and guidelines
Monitors current trends/methodologies in traffic engineering
