L3 DC Tech - A Side Night
Job Type: Contract position
Location: Mount Pleasant, WI
Shift Schedule A Side Night Shift – Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, & Every other Wednesday 6p - 6a
Description We are seeking a skilled Level 3 Data Center Technician to join our IT team. Responsibilities include maintaining the data center’s IT system, troubleshooting issues, performing server installations, and ensuring uninterrupted access to network services.
Responsibilities
Perform tasks listed under Level 1 and Level 2 as needed.
Move servers and switches to required destinations for installation.
Inspect servers and switches to ensure they are not damaged.
Install servers and switches and cable them according to provided wire maps.
Bundle cables neatly and in accordance with standards.
Double‑check with network admins to ensure everything is cabled correctly.
Install additional components needed (NIC, Drive, Memory).
Unbox and prep servers as needed.
Audit servers and consumables.
Troubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problem.
Order replacement parts and install them in servers and ship back defective parts to vendors.
Update firmware on servers to latest version.
Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.
Assist network admins with cable and component issues.
Temporarily rack and stack servers or switches for remote configuration.
Deploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.
Perform break‑fix tasks related to GPUs, troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.
Provide advanced troubleshooting support and resolution of tickets.
Serve as initial contact/liaison between team members and management.
Prioritize and manage workload across the team.
Review build documentation before projects and validate any questions or concerns.
Direct build activities related to data center operations.
Ensure projects are aligned with data center standards.
Provide thought leadership to aid with growth across the program.
Manage multiple simultaneous projects with high stress.
Monitor project deadlines and provide status updates to project managers.
Ensure compliance with safety measures and data center standards.
Requirements
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Flexibility to work non‑standard business hours that may include weekends and/or holidays.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds; safely climb ladders; wear personal protective gear; stand and walk for extended periods.
4+ years of experience in a hyperscale environment.
CompTIA A+ or equivalent experience.
CompTIA Server+ or equivalent experience.
CCENT or equivalent experience.
Windows OS experience.
CCNA certification preferred.
MCP/MSCE certification preferred.
PowerShell, Python, Bash scripting experience preferred.
Experience with structured cabling, rack & stack, fiber, or optical testing.
Understanding of storage devices.
Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
Familiarity with ITIL framework (ITSM, Change Management, Problem Management).
Strong understanding of Network Fundamentals (OSI Layers 1‑3).
Experience installing and terminating copper and fiber optic cabling.
GPU deployment and troubleshooting experience.
OSHA30 or higher certification.
Team based out of South Eastern Wisconsin area focused on GPU cluster deployments.
Experience Level Intermediate Level
Pay And Benefits Pay range: $36.30 – $36.30/hr.
