Senior Irrigation Technician – Fair Park (Park and Recreation – Non-Civil Service)

is seeking a Senior Irrigation Technician to maintain irrigation systems on City-owned property.
Job Summary Performs journey level work in installation, repair, and maintenance of irrigation systems ensuring effective watering of golf courses, park areas, and playing fields.
Overview The Senior Irrigation Technician performs journey level work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of irrigation sprinkler systems on City property to ensure effective watering of golf courses, park areas, and playing fields.
Essential Functions
Manage, design, permit, and supervise installations; inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain irrigation systems within Park and Recreation properties;
Loads and unloads tools, irrigation materials, and equipment onto trucks to ensure necessary tools are available for repairs;
Performs general technical and preventive maintenance on sprinkler systems such as checking oils, cleaning parts, and making adjustments;
Diagnoses problems or refers to journey level irrigation worker for repairs;
Dig trenches, operate tractor to pull water tank, use chainsaws and weed eaters to assist with maintenance;
Provides quality customer service and competent public interaction;
Performs any and all other work as required or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of basic principles and practices of installing and maintaining irrigation systems;
Ability to perform manual labor with hand tools (shovels, pipe wrenches);
Operating hand and power tools;
Knowledge of safety procedures;
Reading and writing proficiency;
Ability to perform labor for extended periods;
Establishing and maintaining strong relationships.
Experience Minimum 3 years installing irrigation or working with landscaping.
Licenses and Certifications Texas Installer License.
Education High School Diploma or GED.
Salary Range $22.32 – $24.56 per hour (starting salary; final offer depends on qualifications).
