MCE - Magnetic Component Engineering Magnetic Component Engineering (“MCE”), a subsidiary of Dexter Magnetic Technologies (“Dexter”), manufactures permanent magnets and magnetic assemblies made to demanding customer specification in the aerospace / defense, semiconductor equipment, medical, and industrial end markets. MCE is based in Torrance, CA and operates one 48,000 square foot facility with 85 employees. For more information on Magnetic Component Engineering, please visit: https://www.mceproducts.com/ The Senior Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in providing comprehensive HR support, ensuring compliance with California labor laws, and promoting a positive and productive work environment. This position partners with leadership to manage employee relations, benefits administration, recruitment, performance management, and HR compliance, while also supporting strategic HR initiatives. Major Responsibilities :

Act as the primary HR contact for production employees and supervisors, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and employment law. Manage employee relations issues, conducting thorough investigations and ensuring fair and consistent resolution. Support and advise managers on performance management, disciplinary actions, and employee development. Ensure compliance with state and federal employment regulations (e.g., CA Labor Code, FMLA/CFRA, FEHA, Cal/OSHA, wage and hour laws). Conduct employee orientations, HR trainings, and ongoing development programs to improve retention and engagement. Administer leave of absence programs (FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA) and coordinate accommodations in compliance with CA laws. Oversee benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee questions in coordination with brokers/vendors. Lead hourly workforce recruitment efforts, including job postings, screenings, interviews, offers, and onboarding. Support the salaried recruitment processes in partnership with the Talent Acquisition Specialist. Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS and ensure compliance with California wage and hour regulations, including meal and rest break tracking and timecard accuracy. Work closely with payroll and finance to ensure accurate compensation, timekeeping, and deductions. Lead or support HR audits, compliance efforts, and required reporting (EEO, CA Pay Data Reporting, Vets 4212, and OSHA logs). Prepare HR reports and analytics to support business decisions. Partner with operations and EHS to support and enforce workplace safety compliance (Cal/OSHA), injury reporting, and workers’ compensation claims. Other duties as assigned Targeted Salary Range: $95,000-$103,000 Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, or related field Minimum 3 years’ experience in Human Resources in a Generalist capacity, preferably in a manufacturing environment Strong working knowledge of California employment law, wage and hour regulations, and safety requirements. HR certification preferred (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP). Fluent in Spanish preferred. Communication – able to send a message clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles. Must be able to interact and effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization. Can create open channels of communication, adapt message to fit audience, express ideas clearly and concisely, keep others well-informed, listen carefully to input and feedback. Managerial courage - Willingness and ability to champion and enforce company procedures, standards, and policies and to maintain utmost confidentiality in handling sensitive company and employee information Conflict resolution – reads situations quickly, can find common ground and get cooperation with minimum noise. Sees conflict as opportunity. Follows a process to resolve. HR Expertise – always learning about the profession of HR and continuously keeping abreast of new trends, laws, and requirements. Knowledge of CA law preferred. Detail orientation – does work that is error free the first time. Checks own work to ensure content is accurate, grammatically correct, and visually appealing. Verifies the work of others when data concerns employment actions. Relationship management – after reasonable exposure, can articulate the strengths and limitations of people inside or outside the organization. Creates a climate where people want to do their best – empowers others. Invites input from each person and shares ownership and visibility. Excellent problem-solving skills - uses rigorous logic and methods to solve problems producing effective solutions to problem statements. Excellent time management skills: concentrating effort on priorities and overall planning, awareness, and response to what is due now, short- and long-term. Strong computer skills: i.e., HCM (UltiPro), Word, Power Point, Excel, and technical researching. Ability to initiate and complete multiple concurrent projects.
