Accounting Responsibilities:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the financial management and overall fiscal administration of the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas. The CFO serves as a principal policy-formulating administrator for all fiscal management and business services, including financial management, federal financial participation (grants, etc.), and budget development. The CFO is a member of the Tribal Council’s executive staff and acts as the Tribal Administrator’s principal advisor on management objectives. The CFO also represents the Tribal Administrator and the Department before the Tribal Council. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as CFO for all fiscal management and business services for the Tribe. Formulate fiscal policies, procedures, and guidelines to maximize Tribal resources while ensuring compliance with Tribal, State, and Federal laws. Develop policies and procedures to implement long-term strategic goals and plan Tribal initiatives as mandated by the Tribal Council and Tribal Administrator. Evaluate and advise on the impact of planning, new programs, strategies, and regulations. Provide analysis of budgets, financial reports, and trends. Offer technical financial advice within the organization. Provide strategic financial input on organizational decisions, including mergers, acquisitions, and investments. Manage banking relationships and strategies to enhance cash flow. Develop cash flow projections and reporting mechanisms. Advise on financial aspects of contracts or agreements entered into by the Tribe. Evaluate and improve the Tribe’s financial assets and efficiency. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Tribal Administrator. Education/Experience Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution. At least five years of experience as a CFO or Director of Accounting in a multi-departmental business entity, with proficiency in governmental fiscal reporting and grant management. Preferred Qualifications:
Prior relevant work experience is preferred. Native American Preference:
