Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Material Industrial Engineer responsible for driving material flow optimization, warehouse compression, and automation projects across manufacturing operations. The role focuses on designing and executing efficient, lean material handling systems that align with corporate standards such as Global Material Optimization System (GMOS), Lean Material Strategies (LMS), and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). The successful candidate will lead end-to-end material strategy initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and support new program launches.
Key Responsibilities
Lead strategy, design, and execution of warehouse compression and material flow improvement projects.
Identify and eliminate waste in the entire value chain, including material routing, automation (AME/AMR), layout, and container utilization.
Develop lean layouts and material handling processes that minimize cost and optimize floor space, equipment, and labor.
Improve route planning, dock utilization, and in-plant logistics flow.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with GMOS, LMS, and WMS standards.
Provide technical support and continuous improvement (CI) recommendations to plant material teams.
Conduct data-driven analysis of current operations to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
Support future program launches with material flow planning and optimization.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
6+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering within a Materials Department.
Proven experience in material flow optimization, warehouse design, and lean manufacturing principles.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Factory Flow, or equivalent productivity/job study tools.
Strong understanding of work measurement, ergonomics, material routing, and facility layout design.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Ability to work independently and drive cross-functional collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in new program launches and execution.
Familiarity with material automation technologies (e.g., AMR/AGV systems).
Exposure to automotive manufacturing environments and GM systems (GMOS, LMS, WMS).
