Responsibilities
Strategy, investment planning, design, and execution of warehouse compression projects and material flow improvements.
Optimize material processes, automation, labor, storage, and flow using GM systems such as GMOS, LMS, and WMS.
Devise and execute all phases of material planning to create efficient, lean designs across the GM enterprise.
Identify and eliminate waste across the entire value chain, including material flow, automation (AME/AMR), routings, mobile equipment, layout, container, storage space, kitting, sequence planning, and small lot strategy.
Optimize floor space, materials personnel, and equipment.
Improve route planning, dock strategies, and material flow.
Develop layouts and processes that reduce cost and achieve operational efficiencies.
Provide technical support and issue resolution assistance to the plant materials team.
Analyze existing operations and propose continuous improvements (CI).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering.
6+ years of industrial engineering experience in a materials department.
Program launch/execution experience is preferred.
Skills
Ability to work independently.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and productivity job study tools like FactoryFlow.
Knowledge of work measurement, work standards, ergonomic principles, material optimization, and facility layout.
Knowledge of basic manufacturing and assembly processes.
