Job Overview
Our client is seeking a Jr. to Mid-Level Cloud Systems Engineer. The Engineer will support a Microsoft Azure environment with ~300 virtual servers for over 2,000 employees. Responsibilities include architecting, deploying, and maintaining scalable, secure cloud environments and day‑to‑day operations.
Responsibilities
Manage complex cloud server environments: virtual machines, backup, disaster recovery, high availability, Entra ID, service accounts, and Enterprise Applications.
Maintain Azure platform‑specific technologies: Just‑In‑Time resource access, Privileged Identity Management, multi‑factor authentication, conditional access policies, and Managed Identities.
Administer Azure IaaS, Azure SQL, Azure Kubernetes Services, Azure Application Proxies, Azure Load Balancer, Logic Apps, and Automation Accounts.
Operate a highly available Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment with 24/7/365 uptime.
Implement and manage alerting and monitoring solutions across multi‑cloud environments.
Manage Microsoft Modern Workplace solutions: Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, and Endpoint Management.
Coordinate monthly update management of virtual machine infrastructure.
Provide technical support, design guidance, and recommendations to application owners.
Analyze infrastructure, dependencies, and application portfolios for migration projects.
Create and maintain architecture, design, and process documentation.
Automate redundant functions to improve quality and efficiency.
Administer enterprise systems and infrastructure for reliability, performance, and security.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred).
3–5 years of experience designing and implementing Microsoft Windows server environments (physical and virtual).
Broad Active Directory Domain Services experience managing privileged access, software restriction, and Windows authentication.
Proficient in technical problem‑solving techniques for Windows/Linux systems and servers.
Experience with patch management, backups, and virtualization.
Strong PowerShell scripting skills.
Experience with Azure, Kubernetes, M365, Entra, Intune, and modern workplace solutions.
Hybrid location in Birmingham, AL; 2–3 days per week in office.
On‑call rotation (few and far between).
