Water Resources Project Manager

to join its growing team in Chantilly, VA. The firm provides innovative civil engineering, water resources, landscape architecture, planning, surveying, and physical security design services across public and private sectors. This role offers the opportunity to lead technically diverse and meaningful projects that range from large-scale federal and municipal programs to private mixed-use, residential, and industrial developments.

About the Opportunity: The Water Resources Project Manager will oversee the planning, design, and implementation of stormwater management systems, floodplain modeling, and dam safety projects. The position combines technical design responsibility with project management, client engagement, and team leadership. Projects include innovative stormwater facilities—bioretention systems, green roofs, permeable pavements, ponds, manufactured treatment devices, and underground detention—as well as floodplain studies, dam permitting, and hydraulic modeling.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the design and construction of stormwater management systems and related infrastructure.

Develop hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) models for floodplain, stormwater, and dam analyses using HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and related software.

Oversee inspections, permitting, and maintenance programs for stormwater and dam infrastructure.

Prepare and review technical reports, permit applications, and construction documents.

Lead coordination with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies to facilitate project approvals.

Manage project budgets, schedules, contracts, and client communication.

Supervise and mentor junior engineers and serve as a technical resource for water resources design.

Support business development efforts, including proposal writing and client relationship management.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (required).

6+ years

of experience in water resources or civil engineering design.

Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia or ability to obtain within six (6) months.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and H&H modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, and FlowMaster.

Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, and leadership skills.

Experience training and supervising junior staff.

Preferred: Experience with ArcGIS, dam safety permitting, and proposal preparation.
