Health & Safety Manager - Southeast
Join as a Health & Safety Manager at GFT, overseeing occupational health and safety systems across the Southeast region of roughly 10 states. This hybrid role supports our Construction Services team, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and monitor the firm’s occupational health and safety management system and compliance strategies for the region, in partnership with the Corporate Health & Safety Team.
Oversee the Regional Occupational Medical Monitoring Program.
Manage and oversee the activities of Regional Safety Coordinators, including leading bi‑monthly meetings.
Monitor compliance with applicable regulations and maintain third‑party safety requirements from federal, state, local agencies and client‑specific requirements.
Conduct field hazard assessments, prepare written reports and recommend corrective or preventative measures.
Develop and facilitate safety training for employees.
Aid in incident investigations.
Communicate effectively across the company, from staff level inspectors to the board of directors.
Research federal regulations and international environmental health and safety standards, develop and implement compliance strategies.
Conduct workstation assessments and address ergonomic concerns.
Collaborate with subject matter experts and functional areas such as Legal, HR, and Insurance Departments on matters of common concern.
Qualifications
Eight (8) years of experience in health and safety management.
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant environmental/occupational health & safety standards.
Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field, or four (4) years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Preferred certifications: OHST, CHST, ASP, GSP, CSP, CIH.
Preferred Skills
Data analysis and identification of improvement areas.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with a diverse team.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Prioritization, multitasking, and attention to detail.
Technical writing and presentation skills.
Experience developing, facilitating, and delivering safety trainings.
Familiarity with ISNetWorld and Avetta prequalification systems.
Knowledge of business continuity programs, including natural disaster and pandemic preparation and response.
OSHA Authorized Trainer for 10‑hour/30‑hour Construction Health & Safety.
Additional Notes Must be able to travel approximately 50 % of the time within the Southeast region and be physically present in the office or at client sites.
Compensation The salary range for this role is $100,000 – $120,000, depending on experience and geographic location.
