Job Description The Laboratory Technician I has knowledge of microbiological concepts, practices, and procedures, and works with various media formulations used in the laboratory.
Essential Job Functions
Receipt and proper logging of all samples received into the laboratory.
Ensuring the correct analysis is performed on all samples.
Performing proper QC/QA tests and documenting in QC/QA logbooks.
Assisting MLT III to complete QA/QC task schedule.
Data entry from bench sheets into the Laboratory Information Management System (Element).
Client interface.
Ordering supplies with MLT III and LD.
Running routine and non‑routine, specialized microbiological analyses.
Field work as needed.
Preparing media for various analyses.
Maintaining the laboratory.
Schedule and Compensation Hours: 9:30 am – 6 pm, Saturday, Sunday and three weekdays of your choice (Saturday and Sunday mandatory). Compensation: $19‑20 per hour (DOE) plus full benefits.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in a related field.
At least 2 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory performing environmental analyses.
Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.
Professional working proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
Good moral character.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Basic computer proficiency.
Good customer service skills.
Valid U.S. driver’s license without recent incident.
Capability to perform light lifting and housekeeping duties.
Tolerance of unpleasant odors.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
