Position Overview Southlake Insurance Group is seeking a Corporate Counsel – Contracts & Operations to manage legal matters related to the company’s operations, including contract review and negotiation, policy and coverage form analysis, licensing, and general insurance compliance oversight. This role will work directly with leadership to manage new business contracting and build the legal framework for client & vendor management.

Key Responsibilities

Negotiate, draft, and execute agreements and contracts.

Advise on contract status, legal risks, and liabilities associated with corporate transactions.

Manage client & vendor contracts, including dissemination to relevant departments.

Review and analyze insurance coverage forms, endorsements, and filings to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Coordinate and manage third-party relationships such as external counsel, auditors, and regulators.

Stay current with evolving insurance and corporate legislation, rules, and regulatory requirements.

Partner with senior leadership and other departments—including Underwriting, Compliance, and Operations—on cross-functional initiatives.

Provide training and guidance to employees on legal and compliance topics.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Law Degree from an ABA accredited law school and excellent academic credentials

Active law license to practice law in at least one state and a member in good standing of the bar

5+ years of relevant legal experience, ideally within a Property & Casualty carrier, MGA, or law firm with an insurance regulatory focus.

Leadership and management skills

Strong understanding of insurance company operations, contracts, policy forms, and state filing processes.

Proactive mindset required

Commitment to providing quality legal advice, learning agility (including demonstrated willingness to develop expertise in new subject matters), and a history of enthusiastic participation in a team environment

Employees are not permitted to handle any outside legal business

Newly hired employees must cease all outside practice and all suit involvement before joining

Travel may be required via commercial transportation or driving to job related activities

May work irregular hours due to workload and nature of work

Compensation Salary is competitive and based on experience.
