Compensation Range
$24,000-$26,000 annually
Position Summary The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of Brown County United Way and is responsible for the organization's overall strategic, operational, and financial leadership. This individual will lead the organization’s efforts to mobilize the community's caring power to advance the common good through collaboration, innovation, and measurable impact.
The Executive Director reports to and works closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategies that fulfill Brown County United Way's mission and vision.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Vision
Lead the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan.
Serve as a visionary leader who aligns community needs with United Way’s mission.
Act as the public face of Brown County United Way, building relationships with community leaders, donors, partners, and stakeholders.
Lead annual fundraising campaigns and develop diversified revenue streams, including major gifts, grants, and planned giving.
Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, foundations, and government entities.
Ensure fundraising goals are met or exceeded, and that donor engagement strategies adhere to best practices.
Community Engagement & Impact
Oversee community investment strategies and grant-making processes to ensure measurable outcomes.
Build coalitions and strategic partnerships with nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies to address priority issues in the community.
Represent Brown County United Way in community initiatives and public forums.
Organizational Management
Oversee daily operations, including financial management, human resources, and program implementation.
Lead and develop a volunteer team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and inclusion.
Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
Board Relations
Support and collaborate with the Board of Directors in fulfilling their governance responsibilities.
Provide timely and accurate information to the Board to inform decision-making.
Facilitate board development and engagement.
Qualifications Education
College Degree (with preference for in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field
required .)
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in the nonprofit, public, or private sector.
Proven track record in fundraising, fiscal management, and strategic planning.
Experience in community engagement and working with diverse populations.
Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a board, staff, and external partners.
High level of integrity, transparency, and commitment to the mission.
Ability to professionally market the mission and message.
