Job Summary Must have HVAC Certification to be considered for this position.
Assists and acts in the absence of the Chief Engineer to oversee the safety and functionality of the facility, including mechanical, electrical, heating and cooling systems, life safety systems, and grounds in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Directs construction and installation, maintenance and repair of all systems throughout the property to ensure operational efficiency and safety. Assigns, verifies, and documents the completion of routine maintenance and repairs in the property maintenance management system. Communicates with city, county, and state officials for permits, licenses, inspections and code compliance. Assists in capital projects and property rehabilitations. Interviews, trains, supervises, counsels, schedules, and evaluates staff.
Essential Job Functions This description is a summary of primary responsibilities and qualifications. The hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.
In conjunction with the Chief Engineer, direct all facets of Engineering.
Use business/management knowledge to assist the General Manager in positioning the hotel as a market leader.
Implement, manage, and comply with company policies, practices, and programs.
Ensure compliance with brand standards and local, state, and national regulations.
Ensure optimal levels of quality service and hospitality are provided to guests.
Walk the property daily to identify issues and listen to associates.
Ensure preventative maintenance programs protect assets and address maintenance problems promptly.
Inspect and evaluate the condition of engineering areas, equipment, and inventories.
Investigate, analyze, and report on all incidents and accidents.
Coordinate activities with local and federal agencies to resolve problems and ensure safety.
Generate cost comparisons and solicit bids/proposals as needed.
Submit recommendations for changes and improvements to the Chief Engineer.
Work collaboratively with the Corporate Office to ensure assets are accurately tracked.
Direct all emergency programs including equipment maintenance, staff training, practice drills, and compliance.
Promote an accident prevention program to minimize liabilities.
Notify the Chief Engineer of potential liabilities and propose proper action.
Ensure associates are properly trained in the use and maintenance of company assets.
Communicate with hotel department heads to respond to maintenance needs promptly.
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
Conduct disciplinary action as required for direct reports.
Conduct 90‑day and annual performance evaluations for the engineering staff.
Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and build mutually beneficial relationships.
Coordinate and communicate with guests in writing and verbally, following up on feedback and complaints.
Review Guest Service Results with leaders and implement corrective action plans.
Emphasize guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings.
Demonstrate commitment to Driftwood Hospitality operating principles and philosophies.
Hold self and others accountable for achieving results.
Address conflict in a timely manner.
Contribute to team results and manage change effectively.
Make decisions with the available information and delegate effectively.
Conduct one‑on‑one meetings with direct reports for ongoing development.

Ensure all required licenses, permits, contracts, insurance, inspections are in proper order.
Submit prompt and proper corporate, divisional, and governmental reports.
Survey and perform property inspections daily to identify needed improvements.
Take on other duties and special projects as assigned.
Hire the best people from internal and external candidates, focusing on talent, diversity, and skill balance.
Use brand interview tools to ensure hiring decisions are job‑related.
Develop succession planning and manage training initiatives.
Handle employee progressive discipline procedures fairly and consistently.
Communicate business objectives and expectations openly to employees.
Actively solicit feedback and maintain an “open door” policy.
Celebrate successes and maintain an employee recognition program.
Enlivens hotel culture and supports Public Relations initiatives.
