Position American History Adjunct Pool. FLSA Status: Salary, Exempt. Department: Academics. Job Status: Contract, Part‑Time. Salary: $750.00 per credit hour/3 credit hours per semester. Work Schedule: Depends on Spring and Fall 2026 class schedules. Reports To: Dr. Channing Stellato, Interim V.P. of Academic Affairs. Organization & Location: Remote.
Purpose of Position Little Priest Tribal College seeks an adjunct to teach one section of the HIST2020 American History II course during the Spring 2026 semester and HIST2010 American History I in the Fall 2026 semester. HIST2010 is a survey of American history from the Age of Discovery through Civil War and Reconstruction. Emphasis is on the political, economic, cultural, social, and technological issues that arise in the development of the American nation. HIST2020 is a survey of American History from the end of the Civil War era to the present. Emphasis is on the political, economic, cultural, social, and technological issues that arise in America’s development as a global power. Both courses are adopted from the Nebraska Transfer Initiative and the syllabi can be found online here:
HIST2010 American History I NTI Syllabus
HIST2020 American History II NTI Syllabus . Adjunct faculty positions are part‑time contract appointments for $750/credit hour, are not eligible for benefits, and are hired on an as‑need basis per student enrollment. Adjunct applicant pools are reviewed by the VP of Academic Affairs and contracted as needed.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in history or a master’s degree with at least 18 credit hours in history courses from a regionally accredited college or university.
Must have a Nebraska State Teaching Certificate or Postsecondary Teaching Permit or be willing to obtain.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities Preferred candidates will have proven success in the following:
Instructional experience, preferably in a tribal community college setting.
Experience using technology in the classroom, including virtual, VTC, and online (asynchronous and/or synchronous formats).
Documented training and/or experience using Learning Management Systems, preferably Canvas.
Cultural competence in serving Indigenous students and/or other minoritized populations.
Conditions of Employment
Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire.
Must pass a pre‑employment criminal background screen.
Must be able to pass a drug screening.
