Our community bank client is seeking a Payroll Specialist in San Antonio, TX. The successful candidate will handle payroll processing, salary adjustments, payroll taxes, year-end procedures, and act as administrator for employee benefit plans. This role offers a salary of up to $65K plus incentives and excellent benefits.

(Note: This is not a remote position) Responsibilities include: Processing payroll, filing payroll taxes, and managing benefit programs such as medical, dental, vision, disability, FSA, leave, 401(k), and ESOP. Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payroll changes, deductions, taxes, and garnishments. Maintaining time and attendance records in compliance with applicable laws. Updating deduction and leave codes in ADP as needed. Participating in annual benefit renewal meetings and coordinating staff presentations. Reconciling benefit invoices and maintaining benefit records. Managing employee communications regarding benefits. Overseeing leave policies, including FMLA. Ensuring compliance with legal requirements like ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, IRS Code, and FLSA. Meeting quarterly and year-end tax deadlines accurately. Administering 401(k) and ESOP plans, including non-discrimination testing and record-keeping. Managing leave accruals and payroll reports. Calculating final pay for terminated employees. Handling Workers’ Compensation and COBRA claims. Processing W2 and 1094/1095 forms with ADP. Adhering to policies to minimize risk and ensure compliance. Performing other duties as assigned. Skills and experience required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Human Resources, or related field (preferred). 3-5 years of relevant experience. Experience with accounting and general ledger preferred. Benefit administration experience preferred. Extensive knowledge of payroll functions, taxes, and internal controls. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and payroll software, especially ADP.
