Our community bank client is seeking a Payroll Specialist in New York, NY. The successful candidate will handle payroll processing, salary adjustments, payroll taxes, year-end procedures, and act as administrator for employee benefit plans. The role offers a salary of up to $65K plus incentives and excellent benefits.

(This is not a remote position) Responsibilities include: Processing payroll, filing payroll taxes, and managing benefit programs (medical, dental, vision, disability, FSA, paid leave, 401k, ESOP). Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of salary changes, deductions, taxes, and garnishments. Maintaining time and attendance records in compliance with laws. Updating deduction and leave codes in ADP. Participating in benefit renewal meetings and coordinating staff presentations. Reconciling benefit invoices and maintaining benefit records. Distributing benefit documents and employee communications. Managing leave policies, including FMLA. Ensuring legal compliance with payroll and benefit regulations (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, IRS Code, FLSA). Meeting tax deadlines and preparing legal reports. Administering 401(k) and ESOP plans, including testing and record-keeping. Managing leave accruals and running payroll reports. Calculating final pay for terminated employees. Overseeing Workers’ Compensation and COBRA claims. Processing W2 and 1094/1095 forms. Complying with laws like the Bank Secrecy Act and OFAC policies. Performing other duties as assigned. Ideal Skills and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, HR, or related field preferred. 3-5 years of related experience required. Accounting and GL experience preferred. Benefit administration background preferred. Extensive payroll knowledge, including taxes and controls. Excellent organizational and detail-oriented skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and payroll software, especially ADP. The next step is yours.
