Job Responsibilities
Practice radiation safety according to policy and procedure.
Ensure proper identification of each patient and treatment site.
Confirm radiation therapy written directive daily and administer treatments as prescribed. Contact supervisor for clarification if needed.
Communicate clearly: explain the procedure to patients and answer questions.
Perform quality assurance activities: morning start‑up, safety checks, visual and audible communication, chart checks, dose verification, staff competency, equipment shutdown, etc.
Perform clinical functions: simulation, fabrication of immobilization devices, verification of patient set‑up, imaging, treatment planning, dose calculations, validation, delivery, and documentation.
Ensure accurate delivery of treatment fields using electronic imaging technologies.
Monitor patients for adverse side effects and communicate to appropriate personnel.
Review instructions for discharge and follow‑up.
Understand equipment function, analyze faults, and seek guidance as needed.
Participate in on‑call rotation.
Maintain knowledge of policies, procedures, operator manuals, manufacturer recommendations.
Participate in implementation of new technologies and training of staff.
Participate in regulatory inspections such as JCAHO, DPH, and accreditation.
Instruct students and evaluate them throughout their clinical rotation.
Perform and complete other duties as assigned.
Maintain license and continuing education credits.
Precept Radiation Therapist Students and Graduates.
Required Work Experience
Graduate of an accredited Radiological Sciences Program in Radiation Therapy or equivalent two‑year certificate program.
Programs must meet JRCERT standards.
Preferred Work Experience
One year of experience – new graduates welcome to apply.
Skills and Competencies Detail‐oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong technical skills and critical thinking. Ability to interact with all levels of staff in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Compensation Minimum – Midpoint – Maximum: $42.24 – $48.55 – $57.41 hourly (exempt employees assumed full time). Sign‑on bonus eligible.
