Position Manager, Research Administration – Yale University

Overview Under the direction of the Associate Director of Research, the Manager, Research Administration supports specialty services departments at the Yale School of Medicine, focusing on the Emergency Medicine department. The role leads a team of Post‑Award Financial Analysts, provides technical guidance, and serves as a liaison between Principal Investigators (PIs) and the team. The Manager delivers expert analytical and financial services, guidance, and consultation to faculty and staff to optimize the use of research funds and mitigate non‑compliance risks across all awards within an assigned portfolio of departments.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the post‑award level financial analysis team and provide technical guidance.

Liaison between PIs, the post‑award analyst team, and department administrators.

Provide expert analytical and financial services, guidance, and consultation to optimize use of research funds.

Mitigate risks of non‑compliance for all research awards within the portfolio.

Oversee non-sponsored research accounts—including chair commitments, gifts, endowments, lab support, recruitment/start‑up, internal grants, over‑cap accounts, VA IPAs, and bridge funding.

Conduct complex modeling to develop long and short‑term resource plans and update financial plans.

Collaborate with faculty, OSP, and department administrators to manage internal controls and maintain client satisfaction.

Qualifications

Prior experience with Grants & Contract Administration from pre‑award to post‑award.

Experience with Workday Financials and/or the Yale Budgeting Tool (YBT) and other university financial tools, reports, and programs.

Professional background as an accountant, grant administrator, or financial professional.

Job Details Salary Range:

$68,000 – $120,500
