Job Summary The Department of Physiology at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University invites applications for two tenure‑track faculty positions as part of the Transdisciplinary Research Initiative in Inflammaging and Brain Aging (TRIBA). Candidates will conduct research focused on cerebral vascular aging and cognitive impairment, secure sustained extramural funding, and collaborate with colleagues across the university.

Responsibilities

Establish and sustain an independent research program that receives extramural funding and complements the strengths and goals of the department and university.

Teach in the School of Medicine and/or The Graduate School, mentor graduate and medical students, and provide instruction for the department’s Master’s in Medical Physiology program. Host educational events such as journal clubs, seminars, and other interactive meetings.

Provide national, local, and institutional service to the university and broader community.

Required Qualifications All Medical College of Georgia faculty must be Board‑Eligible (or Board‑Certified), hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent degree, and demonstrate academic credentials appropriate for the rank.

Minimum qualifications by rank: • Assistant Professor – Early career faculty member with suitable postgraduate training. • Associate Professor – Mid‑career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable experience. • Professor – Senior‑career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable experience.

To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must be appointed at the rank of Associate Professor or higher, have achieved tenure at a prior institution, and bring a demonstrable national reputation to the institution.

Preferred Qualifications

Established national and international reputation in the field.

Demonstrated success in obtaining external research funding.

Exceptional publication record in top scientific journals.

Commitment to multidisciplinary collaborations within and outside the university.

Expertise in unique, cutting‑edge technology.

Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and is subject to availability of funds.
