Position Overview
Hometown Hiring is working with Premier Property Management Kerstiens Realty on hiring a Director of Finance.
We are seeking an experienced individual with strong leadership skills to oversee all accounting operations and financial management for our growing real estate company. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to ownership to support investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes
Develop and maintain comprehensive financial reports for ownership and investors
Track and report on property‑level financial performance across the portfolio
Manage property‑level accounting including rent rolls, tenant billings, and operating expense reconciliations
Coordinate with property managers to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
Job costing on construction projects
Track capital expenditures and improvement projects across properties
Manage lender relationships and reporting requirements and debt covenant compliance
Process and track real estate acquisition and disposition transactions
Vendor management and certificate of insurance collection
Oversee cash flow management and forecasting
Manage banking relationships and treasury functions
Monitor reserve accounts and capital requirements
Coordinate distributions to investors and partners
Coordinate with external CPA firms for tax preparation and audits
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements
Manage property tax assessments and appeals
Maintain proper documentation for cost segregation studies and 1031 exchanges
Maintain and optimize accounting systems and real estate management software
Develop and implement internal controls and accounting policies
Streamline processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
Lead system implementations or upgrades as needed
Supervise accounting staff and provide training and development
Collaborate with asset management and property management teams
Qualifications Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA certification preferred
5-7 years of progressive accounting experience
Strong knowledge of real estate and construction accounting principles
Proficiency with accounting software QuickBooks and Sage preferred
Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling
Thorough understanding of GAAP and internal controls
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with both commercial and residential real estate investments
Knowledge of acquisition, development, and disposition accounting
Familiarity with investor reporting and capital account reconciliations
Experience working with private equity or syndicated real estate investments
Background in public accounting with real estate clients
