Position Overview

A Hospital Partner in Plattsburgh, New York is seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible Anesthesiologists for ongoing locum tenens coverage. This opportunity requires OB anesthesia experience , including labor epidurals and unscheduled C-sections , and participation in call coverage is required.

This role offers Top 10% pay based on verified 2025 anesthesiology locum market data , with consistent weekday scheduling, manageable call rotation, and an established anesthesia team. Providers completing the full contract term (January 5 - September 30, 2026 ) can expect total gross earnings in excess of $653,000 over the assignment.

Assignment Highlights
  • Setting: 100% OR and L&D (no outpatient clinic)

  • Case Load: 4-5 surgical cases per day ( 700-800 deliveries/year)

  • Operating Rooms: 9 main ORs (modern, fully equipped)

  • Case Mix: General, ortho, OB/GYN, ENT, urology, plastics, vascular, GI, colo-rectal, healthy pediatrics

  • Procedures: Regional blocks, epidurals, spinal/neuraxial anesthesia

  • Excluded: No cardiac, neuro, or craniotomy cases

  • Team Model: 15 anesthesiologists, 2 CRNAs, anesthesia techs, OR nurses

  • Supervision: Minimal CRNA oversight

  • EMR: Epic

  • Orientation: 8 hours (non-billable)

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide anesthesia for general, orthopedic, obstetric, and surgical cases.

  • Perform epidurals, spinals, and regional blocks independently.

  • Participate in the anesthesia call rotation (OB and general).

  • Evaluate, monitor, and manage patients throughout the anesthesia process.

  • Maintain accurate documentation in Epic EMR .

  • Work collaboratively with physicians, CRNAs, and perioperative staff to ensure safe patient outcomes.

Skills & Experience
  • Board Certified or Eligible (Anesthesiology)

  • Active New York medical license (or ability to obtain)

  • ACLS and MMR documentation required

  • OB anesthesia proficiency (epidurals and C-sections required)

  • Regional block experience preferred

  • Clean file with no malpractice or disciplinary issues
